DTA QUESTION, help needed!

Someone made a really good question I had not taken into consideration until now XD

There's a limit of 3 entries per person for the DTA contest, but, does sketch/doodle pages should count as 1 entry or multiple entries? I'm not really sure how should it be judged so any advice is appreciated ouo

though, a sketch/doodle page might have lot of effort put into portraying more of in-character art, which is no less of quality than a fullbody full-art of the design.

regardless though, i think it should be counted as a single entery!

this is exactly what I thought! sketches and doodles may not be so focused in the technical part of the drawing but more in the conceptual, as in, developing the character and its personality which also takes effort from the artist

I think it also depends on the look of the sketches, as I mentioned below, what some people may consider a sketch, for others may look more than a finished picture and having more than 1 in the same page aven if the artists calls it a sketchpage can looks more like having a lot of small finished pictures in the same sheet, I think then that there should be more categories in this case, I think I'll use a points system to judge the pictures, as in for example, each illustration will have a base score and elements such as background, coloring, etc may add extra points, in the case of sketchpages each additional sketch may add points as well as how polished they look, what ya think? ovo

Ohh! yes! that sounds like a really awesome and neat way to menage that!

Maybe you could add to the point system the category of character development/charactreristic concept?

What i mean by that is, for example, if the artwork adds a /character/ element into the design. and bonus if the artist displays it in a clear, bold way, that wont require much text explanation to get the hang of the character's story and/or personality! < :O

thats some extra of my thought on your idea, but i think you did a great way to sort this out! :D

i think any sketch or doodle should count as one entery.
as you said in your dta, quality > quantity, right?
i think this way it should encourage people to follow that rule! ;; in my opinion, if following that rule; they'd get a higher chance of winning if they'd effort on the quality rather than filling in all their slots in a rushed manner!

Sketch pages / doodles should count as 1 entry unless otherwise specified by the artist or labeled as such by numbers (like say each doodle is numbered and is listed as individual images - those count as 3 different entries on one page - unless stated this is just for explanatory reasons or something else)

Usually entries are all uploaded in seperate parts / individual images - but there can usually be entries of several smaller doodles too in order to express more with less room (in this sense if they had 6 doodle ideas but only 3 entires they don't have to choose and can just upload all 6 on 1 page as a entry )

Also don't mind any no sense from me: 4:30 am where I am as I'm sending this and less then 4 hours of sleep from.... yesterday? I dunno

the problem I see with sketch/doodle pages is when they have 4+ drawings of the character, even when I've stated that quality before quantity is prefered, I can't deny that someone drawing a lot of small doodles about one character can't be compared to draw one full picture of the character, they both shine at their own way, for example an sketchpage may have more characterization and thought into developing the personality of the character while a full picture may be more focused in the technical aspects of the illustration and I think both aspects should be taken into account, also what is for some people a "sketch" or a "doodle" for other people may look like a finished picture (I hate to use my own art asexample, but I consider my sketches to look very polished to be sketches) so there's a conflict there,  that's why I think it would be hard to judge sketchpages xwx

What I would put as a guideline, if there was sketch pages to be allowed / judged

Is a maximum of 5 'doodles' / 'sketches' per page, and they have to be at minimum a bust shot or half shot (bust being shoulders up and half being from waist up)

That minimizes the over population of a page while giving enough freedom to add personality

Judge on what you feel
Works best for you, some options usually can include (but are not limited to):

Creativity

Personality

Character development

And

Overal design

But it can have more or less, even different ways to judge it

If its like a character sheet with color palette,
expressions, and outfits or something like that portraying
the overall feel of the character....I would understand that being
one entry. But if its a page of doodles, I think it should still count
as one, as long as its clean and still portrays the character and
nothing more.

I think a ref and expressions sheet should count as one entry but when they're a lot of unrelated pictures of the character in different sceneries it should be counted as multiple entries since there are different concepts, idk if that sounds good tho?

That sounds actually good to me, personally.
You should go with that concept; it makes a whole lot of sense.

I actually just thought about using a score system, like, each picture will have an score and depending on elements such as adding a background, painterly coloring, dynamic pose, etc, will add extra points and in the case of sketchpages each additional sketch will score extra points as well as how finished these are, does that sound good? :0

Sounds good to me as well~
It also takes into account how detailed and
invested each art piece is made. ouob I am up for
that system. Hope others will too.

Personally, I've seen sketch/doodle pages taken as one entry. Like how, say, one comic strip page would count as one.

I get it for comic pages and such, but when there are several unrelated pictures of the character it'd sort of feel like they should be different entries, as the comment below stated :0

I think that they should be counted as one entry if it's a comic/if the images show some kind of progression and multiple if it's unrelated drawings collected on one canvas. :>
